Lovely hotel in large grounds. Our room was in a block near the Italian Garden. The restaurant was closed for refurbishment on our visit and we ate in the bar. We were later down for breakfast on the first day and the hot food was slow to be replenished. The evening meal was good but not excellent. Handy for lots of local activities. Would return

Brilliant hotel, the reception staff, especially Fiona, was really welcoming, informative and so helpful. The room was really comfortable, warm and clean. We stayed in the garden room in annex building short stroll from reception. The annex Building needs a lick of paint on outside but don’t let it put you off. The pool sauna and steam room are fantastic, you won’t find better anywhere. It was spacious clean, warm & atmospheric, with changing room attached. The dinner menu is varied and excellent quality food. Restaurant staff were slick serving us and very pleasant. Breakfast was AMAZING, lots of good food & hot and cold drinks to select from Can’t fault it in any way and we can’t wait for our next visit as it’s close to Oxford (10miles)which was our main reason for selecting it.

Absolutely beautiful place. The leisure facilities were amazing and very relaxing. Dinner and breakfast was very delicious. The only thing if you are a vegetarian there is not much of a choice on the menu. Definitely would go back in the summertime as the gardens around look amazing.

Lovely hotel, lovely staff We really enjoyed our one night stay at this hotel, bought as a special deal including dinner, breakfast and use of the leisure facilities. All the staff are really friendly and helpful but not in your face, our toddler was made very welcome, the food was great and everything at breakfast expertly labelled.

The hotel is very pretty at first glance but the rooms we were put in was a newer build section at the back that were like a drab cement communist block from the 50's. Although the room inside was clean and comfortable to a good standard Travelodge or Premier Inn.
The meal service was a catalogue of calamity and failure. We ordered a sharing wing platter to start then both had the 10oz ribeye. 20 minutes later our steaks arrived. The waitress had forgotten to put the wings on the order. We agreed to have the wings as a sort of side when they were ready. Which was after we had finished our steak. In respect to the chef our steaks were cooked perfectly, medium rare and medium well. But both steaks were still chewey so it must come down to poorer quality aging and sourcing. The wings had more flavour! We asked for a second bottle of wine with our meal and again a different waitress applogised for forgetting it! We eventually got it with our dessert.
There seemed to me no management of the staff or direction. We complained to reception as there was nobody else. She nodded and listened to no conclusion. Nobody seemed to care that the service was terrible.
Breakfast was decent enough, but a bit odd. The food was in one room, the seating was in the bar. The hot water for tea was in the next room. The coffee machine was in the another room at the bottom of the stairs. Guests were constantly wandering off to find stuff. Again, no service to be seen.
We didnt get a chance to try the spa.
